dreaming

for some reason we all had to leave, and we had to leave quickly. i knew about a week before everyone else and left to this beautiful place not unlike a pecan farm from my past. it was so nice with cows and sheep roaming freely.

when everyone else began to arrive in the buses, we began to see many faces from our past. but then i saw myself. it was the 'me' that would have been if i hadnt left a week early. myself and others debated over whether i should get the other 'me' to stay with us or not, bc most people were taking a train to a far away place. the others thought i should leave the other 'me' to her own.

i looked over at the other 'me' and saw how confused she was and sad. so i knew right away that i should not leave her. i walked around to the side of the bus and there she was wearing my black skirt with lace on the hem, and my shirt with polka dots and pink flowers. as soon as she saw me, we reached our hands out, touched each other, and knew everything.

from that moment on, we would just tell everyone we were twins.

a thought on the digital age...

i see images every where that have been "cross processed", have crazy tonal changes, or have been OBVIOUSLY manipulated. i am not too sure what i think about the digital age of photography. some photographers i see, seem to alter every image they share. i can see the appeal (and in some cases the need) to use the different manipulations, i just dont feel the need to do it ALL the time.

then i start to think about how i NEVER alter anything. most of the images i share with people are straight out of my camera, rarely changing more than the white balance, or in the case of people, removing a blemish. so what does this say about me? am i going to be left behind because i dont "mess" with the image? (its not that i dont know how to change it, i just dont) am i just old fashioned? i cling to color film and the wet dark room still.

this is something i have thought about often. i would like hear some other view points

reading

i have just finished this book:

it was different to say the least. its written from the point of view of a boy, around 15 or so, who has "behavior issuses." it wonders off into to chapters like his mind does. quirky.

i have just started reading this book:

fair days

apparently this is the last year for the fair to be in memphis (again)

so we went during the day. i took lots of holga pics (that i have yet to process) and TONS of petting zoo photos with my point and shoot. we kept going back to the petting zoo. i have decided that i really want a pygmy goat or a yak. but really i want the yak. SO BAD!! or a zebra, she was so nice and pretty.

YAK

llama

camel (lets not get started on my love affair with camels. i stood in a trance for like 20 minutes one time watching one walk. their feet do the strangest things, and those INSANE eyelashes!!!)

also like to visit the exhibits and art competitions. Homer Simpson below was my fav of the childrens stuff.
a usual, there are more pics on my flickr.

say nighty night and kiss me....

A dream has power to poison sleep.
~Percy Bysshe Shelley, "Mutability"

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:
Dreams are the images, thoughts and feelings experienced while sleeping, particularly strongly associated with rapid eye movement sleep. The contents and biological purposes of dreams are not fully understood, though they have been a topic of speculation and interest throughout recorded history. The scientific study of dreams is known as oneirology.

they never stop. keeping my sleep as restless as ever.

the cuteness

faster than the news

as im posting this, a house across the street is on fire. its a pretty grey day anyways, and all the smoke from the house is making it worse. its smells like camping outside. the firemen are running around like crazies. so i took some quick snappies hoping not to be run off. (plus i had to get back to work!) its for crazy stuff like this that i always carry a camera.
