things i thought about today.....

1. i wanna go on a road trip with loud music, rolled down windows, everyone laughing, wearing sunglasses, and chewing bubble gum.
2. i dont mind mustard getting in my mayo, but i dont want mayo in my mustard.
3. reason #356 for hating memphis: if you dont floor your gas pedal when the light turns green you get honked at.
4. i finally got all my supplies to make little felted animals, but now i cant find my book. :(
5. monica was right. 50/50 soda is the "dabomb.com"

morbid facination

yesterday i was walking around my neighborhood taking photos and saw a dead locust with ants on it. i bent down to take a photo of it, and questioned myself.

why was i taking a photo of this?

i knew i found it interesting, the way the world consumes itself, and how i could actually take a moment to get a good look at the bugs without worry. just like going into abandoned spaces and loving the textures time has created in the space, imagining the people and life that once inhabited the space. i have often thought about why so many artist are interested in things like: old, abandoned, decay, dead, morbid, dark, scary, etc. i myself am included in this. even some of the most "sugar on top" artist i know, still return to this genre every now and then. any insight?

this morning i had a dream about:

it was quite interesting with such an odd combination of things. i have always wished i could play my dreams on the tv and see them again. its like going to the movies.

duct tape prom kids are cool

i knew some cats that were real into making things out of duct tape. wallets, shoes, shorts, whatever. everyone thought it was so funny. (i have no idea why i was looking at this!)

bathroom re-do

right now i have some wierd stuff in my bathroom. i painted the strawberry/heart from across the universe on the wall with the beatles because lyrics "love is old, love is new, love is all, love is you". then i let several of my friends paint their favorite beatles lyrics on the wall too. the whole bathroom is khaki, white, black and red. i had this idea of everyone painting their fav lyrics and the wall being coverd, but it hasnt really panned out that way. so naturally im getting bored and wanna change it.

i know design wise, the whole blue/brown thing has probably died out, but i have wanted to do a room in it for a while. since i wont do my bedroom in cool colors (did once, loved the look of it, but not living in it) im thinking to do the bath....

i would love to get a demask (#5)curtain or if i can afford a neat retro pattern (to match the living room feel). was thinking to put some bird(#3) or perhaps sea creatures (ie. octopus/squid, real stylized) decal in brown on the blue wall. cant really decide if i wanna go funky or glam like the marcia cross trailer (#2) in traditional home. what do you think?
