dreaming

this morning i dreamed of wild animals living in my back yard. there were all kinds. predator and prey were living in harmony. i was sitting at the window watching all of them. i was very happy.

then the dream (as usual) took an odd turn. in my house (of course this house was one i have never seen in real life) behind the futon was a young male lion. the futon had its back to the huge ceiling to floor window that i was looking out of and he was just lazily looking out of the window too.

we realized we should probably not be in the room with this lion (even though he was like our pet but we knew how unpredictable wild animals can be) so we tried to quietly sneak out. as we were shutting the door, he heard us and ran to the door. we were able to shut the door in time but now he could smell us and the dogs we have and he wanted out of the room.

the door had a big space under it and he could fit his paws and nose through. the whole family became scared that he would get out and try to eat us or our dogs and cats. frantically we hurried to put the cats and dogs in another room. naturally the dogs were going crazy and cherry (my poodle) managed to jump out of my arms. when she got to the door the lion was able to fit under the door bc he wanted her so bad. cherry ran very fast to me and then we were all trying to get the lion out the front door. lola (my other poodle) ran out the front door and the lion chased her.

luckily she was able to get away and the lion was sulking around the front yard looking for trouble just like the way mischievous cats can be. this is when i woke up.

i sure was happy looking at all my animals living peacefully in the backyard though. for the most part it wasnt like i was scared of the lion either. i just knew he was young and didnt understand and liked to play too rough sometimes. i just wanted to make sure everyone (including the lion) was ok.

my professor actually likes my idea of photographing what is not there. so i suppose that is what my senior thesis is going to be on!

attempted the cake balls. tasted good, looked like a HOT MESS.

how is it that lola is the cutest rag-a-muffin ever to me?

ps.i am going to school for photography. i know how to take a good photo, but im constantly amazed at the crappy, out of focus, under/over exposed photos i post on here. oh well. i suppose this blog is for my enjoyment, not to be judged by the critic.

pps. i need a nice scanner really bad so i can upload my film/polaroids. :(

i have been wanting to photograph exotics for a VERY long time. i kinda got to a little bit with last sememsters project. (see my flickr for the pics) but i really want to get into it. seeing as i cant just hop on a train to the sahara or jungle or anything, i would like to visit the zoo. the type of photos i have in mind are close/detail shots. especially of elphants, hippos, and other large delightful creatures. are they not completely facinating and dont we all need to be more aware?

SO does ANYONE know ANYBODY in with zoo? keepers, vets, directors, whatever! i know if i could just talk with someone, they would maybe let me. (a girl can dream!) i mean, how does one get into the zoo circle? they are so exclusive.

help please.

a very long blog about CUPCAKES!!!!

so i think everyone knows about how much i love CUPCAKES. i recently found out about CUPCAKE LOLIPOPS. how fun is that? i have a few things planned this weekend and im pretty sure i will be taking some to at least one of them. *excitement*

iv'e been reading water for elephants by sara gruen. its about an old man, the circus, and the adventures of life. also, an added treat (that i didnt know about when i purchased the book) is there are lots of old pics from circuses in the old days.

lunch today

i was having indecision as to what to eat for lunch so i just went to the grocery to see what i could find. when i walk in they have all these lovely flowers for like $2 a bunch! so of course i had to buy a couple. i pick these beautiful gladiolas. but, houston we have a problem! i dont have a big HUGE vase to put them in. opps. so here i am trying to shove all these big, tall flowers in this tiny pitcher. haha. so bc they kinda spread out its like they are taking up the whole living room. oh well.

its a good day anyway.

i made this for my granny's birthday.

i want to practice illustrating more. i still would like to try the project idea of doing illustrations on photographs. i really like the style they had in art nouveau posters. it seemed like everything was done with a hard outline and lightly filled. i have always adored Mucha, so i guess i want to strive toward that.
